I see where you're coming from. I have similar worries as I was putting this article together.

But the research clearly indicates a correlation, not a causation. Again, even the best data shows a 70% correlation. Everyone behaves on a spectrum.

I haven't taken the Big 5 test myself, but if I had, I suspect I'd be quite low in openness and my fight/flight response would be rather high. I also have heavy Christian leanings despite being an atheist. So I would count myself as an anti-pattern of this research.
